FAQ's

Here are a few frequently asked questions from our previous customers that may assist you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us: 770-463-9179

1. How long will a concrete driveway last?

Concrete is a durable and long-lasting building material that can last for decades, with proper care and maintenance. So, why do driveways fail? The #1 cause of driveway failures is settlement and erosion. This is why we alway recommend soil improvements, reinforcement and proper drainage and erosion control measures. Our Team is specialized in this work, and can provide a full solution for you.

2. Here in Metro Atlanta, which time is considered the best to install a concrete driveway?

The fact is, you can choose any time of the year to install a concrete driveway. That is not to say that there may not be certain days affected by weather, but our Operations Team carefully monitors weather and will not pour concrete on days when the project site is affected by excess moisture or extreme cold.

3. After how many days can I start using my new concrete driveway?

The absolute best thing you can do for your new driveway is to allow adequate time for curing. That said, you can start walking on a new driveway after 24 hours, but we recommend our customers wait a minimum of 3 days to start driving on it, and ideally 7 days. This is because the compressive strength of concrete increases over time as it cures.

4. How thick is a residential concrete driveway?

Most City & County codes require a minimum 4-inch thickness for a residential driveway. Our recommendation for a long lasting and durable driveway is 5-inch thickness coupled by steel or fiber reinforcement. This increases material costs, but adds more than 50% to your driveway weight capacity and greatly reduces the probability of future cracks or failures.

How much does it cost to install a concrete driveway?

Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all answer. The cost of your new driveway will vary on your requirements, features, and existing conditions.

6. What is proper concrete maintenance?

One of the best attributes of a decorative concrete driveway is how little maintenance and routine care it will need over its lifetime. But no driveway paving material—including concrete—is truly maintenance-free. Here are some tips for preserving the life and appearance of your investment:

  • Clean your driveway at least once per year, apply sealer as needed.
  • Remove stains immediately. Don’t let them set.
  • Avoid salts and deicing chemicals, these debilitate your concrete.
  • Watch the weight. A typical driveway is not meant for RVs or other extra heavy loads.

7. How long will it take to complete my new driveway?

The time for construction really varies from site to site, and is influenced by factors like size of driveway, existing conditions and weather. For a typical driveway (+/-2000 SF), including demolition, the average project time is 3 work days starting on the day of demolition. Work will continue uninterrupted until complete.
